Why We Are Where We Are Part 7

The Wake-up Herald

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

Why We Are Where We Are
Part 7

by Robert McCurry

The Lord Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). Jesus Christ is God. He is all inclusive to all of life. The spiritual, social, secular, and cultural dimensions of life are to be under His authority and dominion. All of life, whatever its designated sphere, is to have its source in God and His Biblical truth; morality, education, politics, economics, marriage, family, and vocation. God and His Word must always be square one and the point of beginning of every subject, not only about ’salvation’ and ‘Christian doctrine,’ but also about everything that affects us in the real world. All of life is sacred. Biblical Christianity is to be a 24/7 way of life.

The devil and those who work in concert with him don’t care what we believe as long as we confine it between our two ears and to a church building where we meet with others a couple of hours a week for ‘bless me meetings’ and to rehearse our favorite religious subjects.

Man’s dilemma: ‘The’ way or ‘a’ way?

“As for God, his way is perfect [flawless]: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him” (Psalm 18 30). “There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy” (James 4:12).

In contrast, man has devised a way that evolves into many ways. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Prov 14:12).

God’s response: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 58:8-9).

The way and the truth = the life and blessings of God; experienced only by a few. Man’s way = a broad road that leads to destruction and death; experienced by many.

Jesus Christ is the Living Word

Hebrews 1:1-2 "God, who at many times and in many ways spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.” God says, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him" (Heb 17:5).

The Bible is the God-breathed written Word

2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

Psalm 19:7-10  "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.”

This cannot be said about any other book, literature, or document—including the U. S. Constitution. It will be in our best interest to pay close attention to what is being said in this most critical era of America history. There are a plethora of political pundits and their supporters vying for our attention, support, and vote in the coming election. Although their rhetoric—including that of the Muslim incumbent president—occasionally include words like ‘religion,’ ‘Jesus,’ ‘Christian,’ and ‘Bible’, none of these politicians meet the biblical criteria for holding any kind of political office.

The Internet is abuzz with blogs and articles by political activists and organizations that are having rallies, circulating petitions, and distributing literature; others are calling for a return to the ‘Constitution.’ But alas! The Constitution cannot save America.

There are also the religionists who say that what we need is a ‘revival’ but they fail to explain what it is that should be ‘revived.’

Others insist that we just need to ‘pray’ and God will make all the bad things disappear. This is a presupposition delusion. Faith without works is dead (James 2:18-20, 26).

Sadly, pastors at large, with a few exceptions, continue using one of the same old ho-hum excuses for their silence, ‘I don’t believe in mixing religion with politics.’ Sad!

God says: ‘Repent or perish!’ There is no other option.

Wake-up, Pastors! Wake-up, Christians!
